What I did this week (15 mar 2013)

  • Endured a “you guys really need to start getting your crap together” lecture from Burleigh in Advanced Type. The one weekend I figured I could slide by without doing any homework…
  • Had a very normal wednesday at OhioHealth (those are the days I work from 8am–6pm), except for a little lunch outing with Amanda at Jack’s Diner, a very cute, very hidden downtown lunch place.
  • Didn’t have to go to my Draping class this week, because Cheryl Steele planned for us to do an offsite homework project (more on that later). Instead, I got in some extra internship hours.
  • Celebrated Jason’s birthday on thursday with cupcakes from Amanda and Jen!
  • Worked hard to have some actual progress for thursday’s advanced type. Lectures are no fun.
  • Celebrated Jason’s birthday (some more) by making our an annual trip to the North Market.
  • Took a nice photo of our food before eating it.
  • After lunch, drove to Easton to complete that offsite homework assignment for the always-tough Cheryl Steele. I examined dresses at Nordstrom and other stores.
  • Then: it was spring break.

What I did this week (8 mar 2013)

  • Registered for the fall 2013 semester monday morning at midnight. Wow.
  • Had a pretty laid-back week. Killed more time in monday morning’s package design. Uneventful as always.
  • Didn’t have any normal classes on tuesday or wednesday because of sophomore review, which, thankfully, I didn’t have anything to do with this year.
  • Instead of going to class on tuesday, I worked a long day at OhioHealth and took wednesday off for homework.
  • Had a very fun thursday. Split a cheese danish with Amanda that Jason bought us.
  • Checked out some library books and was called “one of our best patrons” by the school librarian. Rock’n’roll.
  • Spent lots of time talking to my bff Amanda on the phone.
  • Got unnecessarily upset about a dumb flyer a fellow student had posted all over campus. But that’s ok, because if I didn’t get unnecessarily upset, I wouldn’t be myself!
  • Visited my jewelry teacher thursday afternoon and had a very nice time catching up.
  • Drove straight from school to Riverside Hospital, where I art-directed a photoshoot for a colorectal cancer awareness ad campaign I’m working on with my internship. What a weird week.

What I did this week (1 mar 2013)

  • Spent monday morning pouring more plastic. If that sounds exactly like last week, that’s because our teacher has given us no due date for the current project and we’re all stuck in a time warp.
  • Discovered that the new Crane Café barista lives in the same apartment building as Jason; started making plans with Amanda to induce romance.
  • Got out of advanced type 40 minutes early on tuesday because Mr. Burleigh misplaced all the files for our new project. I used the extra time to prepare for my ominous draping midterm.
  • Took my draping midterm, which was not actually a midterm but instead an intense two-hour timeframe during which I had to interpret a dress from a randomly-selected illustration and create it on a dress form. It was a fun-yet-physically exhausting experience.
  • Almost went to Wendy’s during thursday morning’s ad class, but didn’t.
  • Despite not making a Wendy’s run, killed lots of time with Amanda and Jason during ad.
  • Used the microwave in the student lounge—a thing I don’t typically do—and talked to a friend I don’t typically see. Ended up missing the first fifteen minutes of advanced type, but nobody seemed to mind.
  • Had an “ice cream frozen yogurt social” at my OhioHealth internship, celebrating ten years.
  • Finished the week by having a very nice meeting with Mr. Mohr about fall classes.

What I did this week (22 feb 2013)

  • Poured a bunch of plastic in Package Design. (Remember, I’m designing little perfume containers?)
  • Had another highly disappointing turnout for monday friendship lunch. It was just me and Dorian this week. I guess everyone is just too busy!
  • Stayed extra-late monday afternoon to print portfolio pages in the digital print lab. It was not a fun time, but I got the job done haphazardly.
  • Stayed even later monday afternoon to do my draping homework. Women’s clothes are a drag.
  • Turned in my junior portfolio tuesday morning; had a one of those walk-around-and-write-on-paper-style critiques. I received unusually positive feedback! Huzzah.
  • Had a laid-back thursday morning ad class. Spent a half hour playing hooky on a couch with Jason and Amanda on the first floor of Crane.
  • Turned in finals for Advanced Type. We finished up the class week with a very pleasant knit-n-crit of our finals. We conducted the entire crit with digital files; Burleigh sat behind the computer and went through our pdf presentations. To see him in action, you’d think he’d never used a computer before…
  • Started thinking about fall semester classes; started stressing out big time. I can’t wait till all this is finally over.

What I did this week (15 feb 2013)

  • Was abandoned by my usual monday lunch friends. It ended up just being me and Sarah. Where were all of you?
  • Got a donut from the very generous Michelle on tuesday morning. Perfect!
  • Spent all week working on spreads in my portfolio. Had tons of trouble getting any work done in class.
  • Spent 15 minutes during class finding pictures of Meryl Streep and printing them out. It was for a project, you guys.
  • Spent more time during that same class to walk halfway across campus with Amanda to find our our jewelry teacher from last semester. She wasn’t there, so we wrote a big note on the chalkboard and went back to class.
  • Tried working on draping homework in the fashion lab on thursday afternoon but had lots of trouble due to confusion and insufficient notes. This class is starting to get tough!
  • Stayed up all night pretty much every night this week.
