Day 51: wed, 4 dec 2013. Portfolio reviews on portfolio reviews on portfolio reviews require a serious game face.
Outtakes from today’s senior snapshot:
- During some downtime in the jewelry lab, Nina conducts bail-bonds business, proving herself to be one of the coolest people ever.
- During a break from portfolio reviews, Karl creates a lovely chalkboard PSA inspired by my pet peeve.

Day 50: tue, 3 dec 2013. I am quite excited for Richard Aschenbrand to review my portfolio.

Frank Blokland’s “First Principles of Calligraphy”. Too cool.
The children explored the limited repetition of movements required to make the ‘Foundational Hand’, by exploring Blokland’s ‘LetterModel’. They filled in the ‘primary harmonic model’ (leaving out the ‘secondary harmonic model’, which maps the adapted characters from the capitals, i.e. k,s,v,w,x,y,z) using colored pencils. This was meant to create a notion of the fact that calligraphy comprises more than just the copying of ‘hands’, and was the first step to generate real insight. Above all, the young students enjoyed doing this.
